SVG

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)

An SVG contains no pixels but drawing instructions: lines, curves, colours. That’s why it stays sharp at any size and is perfect for logos and icons. Many platforms, though, only accept raster images, and that’s when you need to convert it.

Best for
Logos, icons, flat illustrations, charts for the web.
Limits
Not suitable for photos; many social networks, marketplaces and office programs won’t upload it.

BMP (Windows Bitmap)

The historic Windows format: it stores pixels almost always without any compression. It’s simple and faithful, but a Full HD image easily exceeds 6 MB. Scanners, old software and some industrial machines still produce it.

Best for
Compatibility with older Windows software and devices that require it.

Huge files, unsuitable for the web and email.

Questions about SVG and BMP

Are my SVG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion from SVG to BMP happens entirely in your browser, using your device’s computing power. Files aren’t sent or stored anywhere: when you close the page they’re gone from memory too.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 100 files at a time. There’s no fixed size limit: it depends on your device’s memory. On smartphones it’s best to work in smaller batches with heavy files such as videos.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, with up-to-date Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet. On phones, converted files end up in the Downloads folder or the Files app.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only to open the page (and, the first time, to download the components needed for that type of file). After that the conversion keeps working even if the connection drops.
