How to convert JPG to SVG

  1. Add your JPG files

Drag one or more JPG files onto the dashed area, or tap it to pick them from your device.

  2. Choose SVG and the options

SVG is already selected; the options hold the settings that matter for this conversion.

  3. Convert and download

Press “Convert to SVG”. When it’s done, download the files one by one or all together in a ZIP archive.

Good to know. Vectorisation works best with logos and drawings with few colours; with photos the result is heavier and stylised.

Source format

JPG

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)

The photo format par excellence. It compresses the image by discarding details the eye barely notices, so a 12-megapixel photo weighs only a few megabytes. Any device can open it, from an old phone to a photo lab’s printer.

Best for
Photos, pictures to attach to emails and online forms, printing.
Limits
Text, logos and sharp edges show halos; it has no transparency and every re-save loses a little quality.

Target format

SVG

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)

An SVG contains no pixels but drawing instructions: lines, curves, colours. That’s why it stays sharp at any size and is perfect for logos and icons. Many platforms, though, only accept raster images, and that’s when you need to convert it.

Best for
Logos, icons, flat illustrations, charts for the web.
Limits
Not suitable for photos; many social networks, marketplaces and office programs won’t upload it.

Questions about JPG and SVG

Are my JPG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion from JPG to SVG happens entirely in your browser, using your device’s computing power. Files aren’t sent or stored anywhere: when you close the page they’re gone from memory too.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 100 files at a time. There’s no fixed size limit: it depends on your device’s memory. On smartphones it’s best to work in smaller batches with heavy files such as videos.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, with up-to-date Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet. On phones, converted files end up in the Downloads folder or the Files app.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only to open the page (and, the first time, to download the components needed for that type of file). After that the conversion keeps working even if the connection drops.
