Questions about the TAR format

How do I open a TAR file?

Usually a double click is enough: operating systems and the most common programs recognise it. If the program or website you use won’t accept it, you can convert it here to a more common format, for example ZIP.

What extension do TAR files have?

.tar. The MIME type is application/x-tar.

Does converting a TAR lose quality?

The content is preserved; layout and style details may change between different formats.
